History

Expeditiebedrijf Bax B.V. - EDCR B.V.’s predecessor - was established in May 1977. The initial core activities were transport negotiation and customs import and export handling. After the start of the trend to move European production to the Far East in the late eighties, the expedition company subsequently moved its operational borders and warehousing activities were added to the core services. Both suppliers and manufacturers increasingly expected their stock to be stored close to the European client base in order to guarantee short delivery times, save time and reduce costs. The EDCR premises were substantially expanded in order to cater to this demand. Meanwhile, the company can offer a sophisticated and automated logistics centre with a total storage capacity of 12,000 sq m and a

contemporary office.
In the late nineties, Bax B.V. - which by then had grown into an established player in international logistics services with excellent contacts in and knowledge of the Chinese market - was acquired by a major American logistics company. The merger renamed Bax B.V. into European Distribution Centre Roosendaal B.V. (EDCR B.V.)  In 2005, the sceptre of the company - led by Mr. Jan Bax for many years - was placed in the capable hands of the current owner, Jack Martens.
